Looking back and moving forward

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

After two quiet months on the blog front, I have decided to write again looking back at the work produced during lockdown and to share some exciting news too. Whilst August was spent going up mountains in sheer wilderness with my family, I did spend July buried in many online meetings and tutorials and somehow managed to miss a few interesting articles and online news-feed related to some of the projects I have worked on during that time.

The first one I wanted to share was this lovely article from TheDrum by Cat Botibol. It highlights the positive spirit that creatives can bring to the table in unusual times and is also a good reminder that working in the advertising industry isn't always about the brands.

The Making of Us; a short film I worked on back in April, directed by Ed Salkeld and narrated by Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Black Panther, Rise of the Planet of the Apes...) is exactly that, a film done completely by people wanting to give their time to bring hope to people.

The other positive that came out was how much independent film festivals became pivotal to keeping directors, producers, writers, the general public and film buffs going through the lockdown, with their relentless online presence and constant work behind the scenes.

One of the film that did benefit from this is CHOKER; a short I graded earlier this year, thanks to film festivals' online presence and support, the film has been able to reach thousands and thousands of viewers, and has been picked up by many online reviews...

...a four stars by CriticalPopCorn

and a well-rounded interview with the director and the NEVADA WOMEN"S FILM FESTIVAL

But as well as looking back, I am also looking forward, and whilst the future is still looking uncertain, I am looking forward to new opportunities and collaborations, which is why I am also very excited to have joined VirtualPost's roster, a London-Brighton based Post Production that uses the cloud for remote network.

Lockdown or not, I'm set and looking forward to spinning my colour wheels some more.
